The 2024 SBS Drama Awards, which took place at SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul on December 21st, was full of affectionate confessions from actresses.
Receiving Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries Genre/Action, actress Jung Yoo-min shared, “This has been a very special year for me. I completed ‘Connection’ filming, then got married, and now I’m standing here with a baby inside my body”, arousing loud cheers with her sudden pregnancy announcement on the live broadcast. She continued, “The baby came to me like a blessing. I give the baby the name Taeyang because I want the kid to be surrounded by happy people who are always full of love, and grow up to become one of them. To the audience and TV viewers, I wish you all the best”.
Lee Ha-nee, who received Top Excellence Award, Actress in a Seasonal Drama for her performance in “The Fiery Priest 2”, expressed deep affection as a mother raising a daughter during her acceptance speech. The actress said, “Since I now have someone I cherish more than myself, I’m still practicing lowering my self-esteem. While continuing acting, I began to break down who I was after my 30s, which made me become more selfish. As an actress, this is like a turning point to open a new chapter in my career”. She continued, “I will do my best to become a better actress, a better person, and a better mother. I want to thank Ari for growing up so well during the time Mom was busy working. Also, thank you, my husband Peter. Thank you Mom and Dad for raising me well and my fans.”
Director’s Award winner Park Shin-hye, the best actress recognized by drama directors, confessed, “For the first time, I want to take this as an opportunity to thank Choi Tae-joon”, arousing keen attention by mentioning her husband. The actress added, “Thank you so much for always giving me strength, for saying ‘You’re doing well’ to me, who has lower self-esteem than I thought”.
Lastly, Daesang winner Jang Na-ra drew admiration by indirectly mentioning her husband, camera director Jung Ha-cheol, “I got married on SBS”. With overwhelming emotions that caused her to shed tears, the actress shared, “I love my husband Jung Ha-cheol so much. He loves me and all of my sides”.
