Controversial Nominations
On April 7, the secretariat of the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards (2025 Baeksangs) announced the full lists of nominees on its official website and SNS platforms, drawing keen attention. Among those the nominations for Best Leading Actress and for Best Leading Actor in the TV category have been heatedly discussed.
In particular, for Best Leading Actor (TV), nominees include Park Bo-gum (When Life Gives You Tangerines, Netflix), Byeon Woo-seok (Lovely Runner, tvN), Lee Joon-hyuk (Dong Jae, the Good or the Bastard, TVING), Joo Ji-hoon (The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, Netflix) and Han Suk-kyu (Doubt, MBC).

As a result, many people are expressing disappointment that despite “The Tale of Lady Ok” being nominated for Best Drama, Lim Ji-yeon, who basically “carried” the series, was not listed among Best Actress nominees. On the other hand, it was pointed out that “When Life Gives You Tangerines” has achieved an all-kill, with a total of 8 nominations across various categories. As a result, many speculate that IU and Park Bo-gum’s drama will secure the Daesang of the year, as it not only delivers deep messages but also includes outstanding acting and cinematography that highlights the Korean society and culture.
