On the September 2nd broadcast of KBS JOY’s “Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller”, the mother of a well-known singer appeared as a storyteller to share her distressing story.
The storyteller began by saying, “It’s been 12 years since I divorced. My ex-husband keeps spreading false information that’s ruining my son’s future. It’s frustrating dealing with him.”
She recounted how, when her children were young, her ex-husband was verbally and physically abusive. She eventually divorced him, taking the children with her without seeking alimony.
She sighed, “Both parental rights and custody were granted to me. About a year after the divorce, when my son appeared on a show singing, my ex-husband suddenly showed up. My son was about to sign a contract with a company, but my ex-husband insisted on becoming his manager.”
She continued, “Before that, he had never expressed any intention of raising the children. But suddenly, he began spreading rumors that I had sold my body to the agency’s president to secure the contract for my son.” Due to these false claims, the contract was canceled, and her ex-husband ended up taking over as the son’s manager.
Without an agency, her son continued his activities under his father’s management. The ex-husband began scheduling events and posing as the head of an agency. He even took out loans under the son’s name and asked relatives and fans for money.
Upon hearing this, Seo Jang-hoon and Lee Soo-geun asked her to reveal the singer’s name, promising not to make it public. After some hesitation, she disclosed the name, shocking everyone.
The mother explained that, even though her son is now an adult, he is still terrified of his father and cannot escape his influence. She revealed “One day, my son called, saying he was too exhausted to sing. He was hiding in a playground barefoot, saying his father was chasing him with a car, trying to run him over. He had run away so quickly that he didn’t even have time to put on his shoes“, shocking the audience.
When asked why her adult son is still so afraid, she replied, “He fears retaliation.” She explained that her son is still traumatized by the violence he experienced and remains fearful of his father, even as an adult.
The mother claimed that this situation has persisted for eight years.
She said, “For eight years, my ex-husband has been telling TV station officials that he’s a devoted father, while hiding the fact that we were divorced. Meanwhile, I was in hiding. During that time, my son got into a traffic accident, but instead of getting him treated, my ex-husband continued to drag him to events. At one point, my son decided to quit singing. It was during this time that he signed with another company, but my ex-husband started harassing him by protesting and accusing him of financial fraud in front of the agency.”
She also revealed that her ex-husband has been spreading false rumors about their son, labeling him as a disobedient child to the industry contacts he had made over the past eight years.
Seo Jang-hoon asked, “Are the people in the industry aware of this situation?” He was at a loss for words at the shocking revelation. Lee Soo-geun added, “Do the industry people actually believe those lies?” He encouraged the son to muster the courage to resolve the situation.
