On Sep 12th, according to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network, “Victory” attracted 13,602 viewers the previous day, securing the No.1 spot at the box office. Despite modest daily attendance, the film ranked first for two consecutive days.

“Victory” tells the story of “Millennium Girls”, an amateur cheerleading club full of passion, who inspire everyone with their energetic dances and songs. The movie initially opened at No.5 with 36,258 viewers but dropped to No.8 before making an unexpected comeback to the top after a month in theaters.

The film, which stars Hyeri, gained attention partly due to her dedicated promotional efforts. Despite her busy schedule, Hyeri tirelessly promoted the movie.

However, after Victory’s sudden box-office resurgence, some online communities raised suspicions of manipulation. In response, the production company Mindmark addressed the issue on their official Instagram, stating, “We want to clarify that the allegations against ‘Victory’ are completely untrue.

They explained, “Some corporate and group screenings were scheduled around the Chuseok holiday, leading to an increase in viewer numbers, especially during weekday screenings. The theaters that sold out during weekdays were group reservations, which caused some misunderstanding.

Typically, group screenings are not listed on regular booking sites, but the schedules for some of these screenings were mistakenly made public, leading to confusion. The production company thanked everyone for their interest and support for the film.
