Sorry for the late news, but like I said I was sick and I’m catching up. Anyway, this is wrapping up the saga of BTS member Suga‘s drunk driving scandal, the court decided to issue a summary indictment for the case with a fine of 15 million won for operating his electric scooter while intoxicated.
His reported 0.227 BAC matches up with the penalty for exceeding 0.2% BAC, which is 2-5 years in prison or a 10 million to 20 million fine. Given that he was a first time offender, he was always going to get the fine. If it was any lower than 0.2% BAC, the max fine would’ve been 10 million won.
So yeah, it was a dumb decision by him and people shouldn’t shield it just because nothing bad did happen or it didn’t look serious, as there’s a reason these are always punished even if you hadn’t caused harm yet. On the other hand, a lot of the media hoopla with the investigation and stuff was unnecessarily dramatic, and I can’t imagine he’ll return fine enough if he can serve out his military term without further drama.
