Roh Yoon-seo on Being Called the “Nation’s First Love” Like Son Ye-jin “Overwhelming but Grateful”

During the press conference for the movie “Hear Me: Our Summer” (directed by Jo Seon-ho) held on the morning of October 18 at Megabox Seongsu in Seoul, Roh Yoon-seo responded to comments suggesting she might carry on the legacy of the “Nation’s First Love” after senior actresses like Son Ye-jin, saying, “Such remarks are too overwhelming and I’m very thankful.

She added, “I appreciate being called that, but I think ‘human Yeo Reum’ would be a nice title, too. Anything is great.

“Hear Me: Our Summer” tells the refreshing and heart-fluttering moments between Yong Jun (played by Hong Kyung), who goes straight for love, and Yeo Reum (played by Roh Yoon-seo), who learns about sincerity, along with the younger sister Ga Eul (played by Kim Min-ju), who supports them. It is a Korean remake of the Taiwanese film “Hear Me” (2010) and is the second film directed by Jo Seon-ho, following his debut “A Day” (2017).

Roh Yoon-seo shared, “I was worried about how to bring the vibe of the Taiwanese original to life in a Korean setting, but I realized that we have our own charm. There are lines that come to life even more because it’s set in Korea. We tried to capture our own emotions and express the excitement naturally. I think we’ve done well to bring out our unique sensibility.”

Meanwhile, “Hear Me: Our Summer” is set to premiere on November 6.
