Jung Hae-in to Make Acting Debut in Japan?

On October 18, According to news outlet OSEN, it has been confirmed that Jung Hae-in, after completing the movie “Veteran 2” (also known as “I, the Executioner”) and the K-drama “Love Next Door” is positively considering an offer to play the male lead in a Japanese drama for his next project.

Previously, Jung Hae-in worked with Japanese genre film master Takashi Miike through the Disney+ original series “Connect”, which was released in 2022. At that time, it was officially invited to be featured in the “On Screen” section of the 27th Busan International Film Festival, attracting worldwide attention. However, “Connect” was a Korean-Japanese co-production concept, with Korean drama production company Studio Dragon handling the planning and production.

Since then, although Jung Hae-in has had the chance of  meeting Japanese fans through fan meetings, he has never appeared in a Japanese production. The J-drama that Jung Hae-in is currently considering is said to be a project created by local production companies, writers, and directors coming together. This highlights his elevated status in Japan and suggests an exciting global move that expands his activities beyond Korea.

Meanwhile, Jung Hae-in is showing remarkable activity this year. He has achieved the difficult feat of simultaneous success in both film and drama.

The movie “Veteran 2”, in which he starred in, was a box office success, attracting about 7.4 million viewers, and his portrayal of a villainous sociopath character received great acclaim.

Additionally, “Love Next Door”, the weekend drama that marked his first attempt at a romantic comedy with tvN since debut, concluded with its highest viewership rating of 8.5% (based on Nielsen Korea’s nationwide paid platform) in its final episode, ending on a high note.
