Kang Tae Oh will reportedly return to the historical genre after six years.
On October 18, media outlet Ten Asia shared an exclusive report that Kang Tae Oh will be leading the upcoming MBC K-drama The Moon Flows on This River (literal translation). This will be the remake of the 2010 hit K-drama Secret Garden in the historical version.
This will possibly be his comeback to the historical genre after six years. He last appeared in this genre in 2019 through the KBS series The Tale of Nokdu. Back then, he was a supporting role but this time, Kang Tae Oh will possibly lead his first-ever historical K-drama.
Aside from this, Kang Tae Oh is also expected to make his grand return to the K-drama scene. After becoming more famous through Extraordinary Attorney Woo in 2022, the actor took a hiatus as he had to serve in the military. In March of this year, Kang Tae Oh has officially finished his duties.
Kang Tae Oh is set to lead the upcoming tvN K-drama Potato Research Center with Lee Sun Bin. He will also return to the confirmed new season of Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2.
The Moon Flows on This River will be the historical version of Secret Garden. The 2010 K-drama shared the romance story between a conglomerate and a poor woman who mysteriously swapped bodies. It was led by Hyun Bin, Ha Ji Won, Yoon Sang Hyun, Kim Sa Rang, Lee Phillip, Yoo Seo Jin, and more.
Kang Tae Oh will reportedly take on the iconic role of Kim Joo Won, originally portrayed by Hyun Bin. In Secret Garden, Hyun Bin portrayed the role of an arrogant and eccentric conglomerate and CEO who presented a flawless public image.
According to reports, The Moon Flows on This River will exclusively premiere on MBC next year. There are no other reports yet on which actors will join Kang Tae Oh in the remake series.
