While the event has been titled the “wedding of the year” amongst many media outlets and was shown to attract their fair share of celebrities, Lee Yu Bi’s presence also caught criticism from several media firms.

Lee Da In and her husband, Lee Seung Gi, and actress Lee Yu Bi also attended. However, controversy has surrounded the sisters regarding their stepdad’s alleged connections to illicit business practices and some feel tarnished the court of this lifestyle.
Recently, MK News went so far as to call Lee Yu Bi an “unwelcomed guest,” bringing up speculation about her controversial past.

In 2023, during Lee Dain and Lee Seung Gi’s wedding, Lee Yu Bi was labeled as “bad wedding guest” for his fashion choice, which was widely criticized.
She fashioned a pink tweed suit with a matching handbag at the wedding, but her outfit choice was under fire, as guests generally tried to refrain from outshining the bride. The criticism then reached her mother, Kyeon Mi Ri, who wore a bright pink hanbok that also drew ire.
When Lee Yu Bi appeared on a past episode of Strong Heart VS, her sister addressed the outfit controversy, saying that since Lee Yu Bi was so busy filming for another drama right before the wedding, she chose the pink tweed suit herself.
The sisters’ stepfather, who has reportedly made billions through stock manipulation based on these and other television appearances, Lee Hong Heon, has also been accused of driving numerous families to financial ruin as his family thrived.
The allegations have followed the actresses throughout their careers despite his denials. Korean actor Lee Seung Gi also drew backlash for marrying into a “Loser family” as some turned what he’d built on his own but didn’t want to marry anyone from that kind of a home.
Outside of the wedding fiasco, Lee Yu Bi has faced negative publicity due to multiple incidents: her involvement in the now-canceled K-drama Joseon Exorcist, an allegation for trying to advertise a painting that included copyrighted characters, and dating rumors.

Her social media was bombarded with hate in 2021 after she was rumored to be dating BTS member Jungkook. After Lee Yu Bi had been embroiled in dating rumors with The Rose’s Kim Woosung, her agency announced that it would file charges for slander and privacy violations.
