Late Kim Soo-mi Was Recently Reflecting on Life, Writing a Book Titled “Goodbye”

On Oct 26th, Kim Soo-mi’s son Jung Myung-ho, director of Napalkkot F&B, and her daughter-in-law, actress Seo Hyo-rim, shared through an interview with Yonhap News that Kim Soo-mi recently wrote a book titled “Goodbye”.

Seo Hyo-rim mentioned that she used to call Kim Soo-mi “Mom” and remembered her as a “tender-hearted person”. She added “Mom had been very stressed and struggling with company matters lately” and said she tried to comfort her by telling her, “You can’t let this break you.” In response, Kim Soo-mi admitted “I feel the same in my heart, but my body just can’t keep up“, revealing her vulnerable side.

Jung Myung-ho also noted that Kim Soo-mi seemed to have been reflecting on her life in recent times, saying that there were many manuscripts at home, and the book’s title was “Goodbye”. He shared that Kim Soo-mi had left a message to her juniors, saying, “As someone who lived her life as a supporting actress, I want to tell you: Even if you’re struggling or in a slump, if you endure, this industry will eventually reward you. Never give up midway.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo-mi was found in cardiac arrest at her home on Oct 25th and was transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead. She was 75 years old, and her cause of death was reported as hyperglycemic shock. Her wake is being held at Hanyang University Hospital Funeral Hall in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and her funeral will take place on Oct 27th at 11 AM. Celebrities including Yoo Jae-suk, actors Shin Hyun-joon, Yum Jung-ah, Park Eun-soo, Jo In-sung and the couple Yoo Dong-geun and Jeon In-hwa visited the wake to pay their respects.

Jung Myung-ho expressed his gratitude, “We deeply thank everyone who loved Kim Soo-mi, who lived her life laughing and crying as everyone’s mother. We hope you will remember Kim Soo-mi, who always stayed close to viewers with her love and passion for acting. Our family will also live with the intention of repaying the support and love you have given us over the years.”
