Uhm Tae Goo takes on a new character transformation in Light Shop.
Light Shop is a story that unravels when people with secrets visit a mysterious light shop, the only place that lights up the end of a dark alley. A-list actors such as Ju Ji Hoon, Park Bo Young, Uhm Tae Goo, Bae Sung Woo, Lee Jung Eun, and more are starring in the K-drama.
In the stills, Uhm Tae Goo appears as an ordinary office worker, wearing round glasses, a red shirt, a gray suit, and holding a briefcase. His eyes have a peculiar glint as he looks at a mysterious woman he encounters at the bus stop every night. Growing curious about her, he eventually strikes up a conversation, after which he begins to experience strange and unsettling feelings.
Regarding his decision to join Light Shop, Uhm Tae Goo explained, “The first reason was the incredibly powerful script,” adding that it was “frightening yet sad, strange yet warm.”
He was captivated by writer Kang Full’s unique storytelling. He said, “Light Shop had both twists and resonance. It is a work unlike anything I’d come across before.”
He also expressed his trust in actor-turned-director Kim Hee Won, as Light Shop marks Kim’s directorial debut. Uhm Tae Goo added, “I had complete faith in the multi-talented director Kim Hee Won.”
Uhm Tae Goo devoted himself to fully embodying his character, and even exchanged ideas with the production team. He recalled, “I worked closely with the director, having many discussions.”
Director Kim Hee Won praised Uhm Tae Goo, saying, “He often plays intense roles, so I wanted to see him play a shy and ordinary character. As expected, he did a great job.”
Writer Kang Full also expressed satisfaction, noting, “Hyun Min is the most realistic character in Light Shop. Uhm Tae Goo portrayed him naturally, and it was wonderful.”
Light Shop will air a total of 8 episodes. The K-drama will release four episodes on December 4, followed by two episodes each week, only on Disney+.
