On the 31st, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul assigned the case related to Choi Min-hwan’s alleged violations of the Prostitution and Sexual Violence Punishment Act (forced molestation through family relations) to the Women and Youth Division and Investigation Team 3 for a full-scale investigation.
The police plan to summon the complainant soon for questioning as a witness. However, the details regarding Choi Min-hwan’s summons or the date have not yet been determined. When asked about the summons and whether any of the charges were acknowledged, the police responded, “It is difficult to comment on a case that has just begun its investigation.”
On October 25, FNC Entertainment told OSEN that they are currently verifying the claims involving Choi Min-hwan. The controversy erupted when LABOUM’s Yulhee, Choi Min-hwan’s ex-wife, posted a revealing video on her YouTube channel, “Yulhee’s House”.
In her video, Yulhee disclosed, “About a year before our divorce, a significant incident occurred. I overheard my in-laws speaking poorly about me. (My ex-husband Choi Min-hwan) would inappropriately touch me in front of family or sometimes stick money (in my chest) when drunk. This happened even before I knew about the ‘club incident.’”
She further alleged, “He would touch sensitive areas and grab my chest in front of his parents. I thought he was just drunk, but looking back, the pieces fell into place, and I realized these were behaviors he wasn’t going to change.”
Additionally, she released a recorded audio clip, reportedly from 2022, in which Choi allegedly says, “I sneaked out,” “Are there girls?” and “Please arrange something good.” He also asks, “Send me the details on Telegram, and I’ll transfer the money,” revealing his desire to “go out and have fun.”
Following these revelations, attention has shifted to Choi Min-hwan’s future in FT Island. As a current band member, many recall the departure of former member Choi Jong-hoon over his involvement in the “Burning Sun” scandal, speculating that Choi Min-hwan might face a similar outcome if Yulhee’s allegations are confirmed.
FNC Entertainment has stated they are carefully reviewing the situation due to the severity of the claims.
Choi Min-hwan and Yulhee were married in 2018, had 3 children together, and announced their unexpected divorce last year after 5 years of marriage. Choi Min-hwan currently holds custody and shares his parenting journey on “The Return of Superman”.
