Gone Too Soon: 10 Korean Celebrities Who Died Young

The reminiscences of youthful Korean stars who exited this earth too early are always imbued with a sense of melancholy. They all brought their A-game and loyal fans would appear, nimbly or toxically.

Fans and peers have mourned their untimely losses since. So this is for all of ’em, and we salute their legacies by recognizing the footprints left in the sand after their too-brief but brilliant careers.

Moonbin (ASTRO)

Moonbin was a beloved member of K-pop group ASTRO, choreographer and talent extraordinaire.

But, tragically, his untimely passing at the young age of 25 in April, 2023 took the world by surprise, especially for numerous supporters and people across the entertainment industry.

Kim Mi Soo

The actress is known for her roles in series such as Hi Bye, Mama! and “Yumi’s Cells.” It was a devastating loss for her fans and colleagues when the 31-year-old died in January 2022.

Song Yu Jung

As a beginner model, Song Yu Jung had been practicing her acting abilities throughout school. She was featured in dramas like “Golden Rainbow” and “School 2017.” She died suddenly, aged 26, in January 2021, leaving many devastated.

Park Ji Hoon

Park Ji Hoon was an actor recognized for his role in Chicago Typewriter. He succumbed to a 19-month fight against stomach cancer in May of 2020 when he was only 31.

Go Soo Jung

Go Soo Jung (age 25) is a rising actress and star of the series “Goblin” and the film “Solomon’s Perjury.” Health issues would ultimately lead to her passing at the age of 24 in February 2020.

Cha in Ha

Cha In Ha was an actor, and a member of the group Surprise U. He acted in such dramas as The Banker and Love with Flaws. Fans were shocked by his death in December 2019 when he was only 27 years old.

Sulli

Sulli was an ex-member of the girl group f(x) and actress. She was loud, funny, and advocated for mental health. In October 2019, she died at the age of 25.

Goo Hara

Hara was once a member of the disbanded K-pop group, KARA before becoming a solo artist. Sadly, she died in November 2019 aged only twenty-eight, leaving huge gaps in both the K-pop world and her fan base.

Jonghyun (Shinee)

Jonghyun was one of the members of the hit K-pop band, Shinee. He was an artist of significant talent with fans all across the globe. His death in December 2017 at the age of just 27 shattered countless hearts.

Lee Eun Joo

A talented actress who starred in movies such as Taegukgi and The Scarlet Letter. She died in 2005 at age 24.
