On November 1st, Netflix released teaser posters, a teaser trailer, and promotional stills for “Squid Game 2,” heightening anticipation for the new season.
“Squid Game 2” follows the story of Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who returns to participate in the game seeking revenge, and his intense confrontation with the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), along with the resumption of the real game.
The teaser poster captivates viewers with images of Gi-hun and the Front Man standing at opposite ends. Once again wearing the green tracksuit and bearing the number 456, Gi-hun’s appearance raises questions about what kinds of games and stories will unfold in season 2.
Standing at the forefront of 456 participants with a grave expression, Gi-hun’s appearance reminds viewers of his vow for revenge in the season 1 finale and builds anticipation for his counterattack.
Additionally, the Front Man, who returns from season 1 to face Gi-hun, catches the eye. With pink guards behind him, he finally reveals the face that was hidden behind the mask, sparking curiosity about both his role in season 2 and the narrative of In-ho that shocked viewers in season 1.
The simultaneously released teaser trailer begins with participants posing for photographs before the main game, accompanied by a cheerful mechanical voice saying “Smile.” Unlike season 1, where voting only occurred after the first game, a new rule is announced stating that votes will be held after each game to decide whether to continue, adding intrigue to season 2.
While viewers briefly welcome the return of “Red Light, Green Light” (known as “The Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed” in Korean), which was also the first game in season 1, panic ensues among participants as the first casualty occurs.
Amid divided opinions about continuing the game, Gi-hun shouts, “I’ve played this game before!” attempting to resolve the situation. The appearance of the Front Man watching all of this unfold amplifies curiosity about the new story in season 2.
With the tagline “45.6 billion won, the childhood games are not over,” the diverse array of participants flashing by like a kaleidoscope promises an eventful story in “Squid Game 2.”
The promotional stills capture attention with Gi-hun’s determined expression and the Front Man’s meaningful gaze, building anticipation for their impending confrontation.
Stills of Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun), who discovered in season 1 that the Front Man was his brother In-ho, spark curiosity about his story in season 2, while stills of the DDakji man (Gong Yoo), who has resumed recruiting participants for the “Squid Game,” intrigue viewers about his upcoming role.
Finally, as the main game begins, faces of new participants are revealed, including Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan), who appeared as Gi-hun’s friend in season 1, along with Im Si-wan, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, and Jo Yu-ri, exciting fans ahead of its December 26th release.
“Squid Game 2” will be available on Netflix from December 26th.
