The recent leak of HYBE’s internal documents, which contain controversial remarks about various idols and celebrities, has stirred major public debate. While many fans found certain comments offensive, the spotlight has also fallen on Park Jin Young’s recent activities, prompting discussions online.
Known as the founder of JYP Entertainment and its former CEO, Park Jin Young now serves as Chief Creative Officer, remaining active within the company. He recently joined idols, such as aespa’s Karina, in dance challenges, with one clip circulating widely on X (formerly Twitter), where users contrasted his behavior with that of HYBE’s founder, Bang Si Hyuk, amidst the scandal. The video has amassed over 3.6 million views.
While some lauded Park Jin Young’s approach, others voiced criticism, revisiting past controversies, including the management of idols under JYP Entertainment and decisions that led to young trainees working with now-convicted sex offender R. Kelly.
Many posts with captions reminded people about the controversial things Park Jin Young had done gained significant attention, “The amount of times people have forgotten what type of person JYP is is crazy. This man has starved his idols, exploited them, is racist, zionist and so many other things but yeah sure let’s not focus on that part,” “JYP is not the angel y’all think he is. He’s got a history of mistreating his artists, from extreme diets to sexualizing young female idols. He is a zionist too. Don’t go around praising a man like that.”
Despite the outrage over HYBE’s internal discussions, some fans argue it doesn’t absolve other industry leaders from scrutiny.
