The upcoming short-form drama “Useless Love,” scheduled for release in January 2025, is a hilarious romantic comedy between a man and a woman who spend the night together by mistake. The story follows an unmarried man and woman who hold old-fashioned beliefs about marriage being mandatory after intimacy. When these two opposites, who are far from each other’s ideal types, accidentally spend a night together, chaos ensues.
“Useless Love” has garnered significant attention as it will be directed by veteran director Lee Jung-sup, known for creating numerous hit series including “Bread, Love and Dream” (which achieved a peak rating of 49.3%), “Healer,” “My Lawyer, Mr. Jo,” “Queen For 7 Days,” and “Angel’s Last Mission: Love.” The combination of the short-form format and Director Lee’s detailed yet powerful directing style is expected to create exceptional synergy.
On November 6th, the two leads who will portray this delightful romance between an unmarried pair were revealed, drawing widespread interest. The starring roles will be played by Lee Dong-gun (as Lee Moo-gae) and Park Ha-sun (as Do Do-hye).
In the drama, Lee Dong-gun takes on the role of Lee Moo-gae, a highly capable yet unmarried literary critic and publishing house editor. Moo-gae is a devoted son, an exemplary student, and a caring brother to his sister. However, due to his timid personality, he struggles to confess his feelings, making him an expert at unrequited love.
Lee Dong-gun began his journey to stardom with “Ad Madness” and has since appeared in countless notable works including “Ruler Of Your Own World,” “Sang-doo! Let’s Go to School,”, “Sweet 18,” “Lovers in Paris,” “The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop,” “Queen for Seven Days,” and “Angel’s Last Mission: Love.” Known for his solid acting skills and captivating gaze that has won many hearts, Lee Dong-gun, the acknowledged master of melodrama, will portray a shy man’s romance in this drama, making his transformation particularly noteworthy.
Meanwhile, Park Ha-sun plays Do Do-hye, an unmarried art director at a publishing house. Do-hye, a master of self-entertainment, believes herself to be the perfect bride candidate with flawless looks, figure, and abilities. However, she peculiarly excels at keeping interested men at bay.
