143 Entertainment has confirmed the departure of Gaeun from MADEIN.
On November 29, the agency announced that Gaeun had officially left her group. 143 Entertainment also addressed the sexual harassment allegations involving the company’s CEO.
“Gaeun has officially left MADEIN as of today. Since debuting in September, Gaeun has always done her best for MADEIN’s activities. However, Gaeun has found it difficult to continue with the group due to personal circumstances, therefore, it was decided that she will leave the group.”
The agency continued that MADEIN will now continue its activities as a six-membered act with Mashiro, Yeseo, MiU, Nagomi, Serina, and Suhye. Afterwards, the agency also refuted the CEO’s sexual harassment allegations.
“We would like to address the latest allegations involving sexual harassment, which are false, and we have evidence proving the baselessness of these claims. Should there be any legal issues, we will sincerely address them and clarify any doubts.”
143 Entertainment also apologized to fans for delivering such heavy news. It also kindly asked for their continuous support for Gaeun and MADEIN.”
In other news, Gaeun had fans concerned due to her social media activity. Fans pointed out that the idol had removed her Instagram posts, alongside the tags of 143 Entertainment, MADEIN, and its CEO from her profile.
This was subsequently followed by a separate statement from the agency, which announced that Gaeun would be going through a hiatus due to health reasons.
On November 22, Korean news outlets shared that JTBC’s “Crime Chief” released a report detailing a CEO having sexually assaulted a girl group member.
Although no specific names mentioned, viewers identified a blurred video of a MADEIN performance. They also claimed that the description of the girl group matched MADEIN and Gaeun’s sudden hiatus had coincided with the report.
