On December 24, Seo Taiji expressed his thoughts via the SNS account of Seo Taiji Company, opening with, “Another year has passed, and Christmas in December has arrived.”
He continued, “These days, Korea is bustling with its first impeachment crisis in seven years. Another impeachment — it’s truly regrettable. Regret of the Times.”
Seo Taiji addressed his fanbase, “It seems many fans have participated in rallies. Do we still have functioning light sticks?” He added, “This time, especially, many friends in their 20s joined in. It reminded me of the old days when we fought together. It was admirable. Now, we must become the unchanging uncles and aunts who can support these young people leading the future.”
Seo Taiji also shared a glimpse into his personal life, “Looking back on this year, there weren’t any particularly special events. Just spending time with my family felt like a good life.”
Reflecting on societal changes, he noted, “The world is so different now compared to 30 years ago. Sometimes this world feels strange and intimidating, but we are the only generation that has experienced the transition from analog to digital and now artificial intelligence firsthand. I believe we will live strong and resilient lives no matter what happens.”
In closing, Seo Taiji wished his fans well, saying, “Though the times remain chaotic and the road ahead is long, I hope you all enjoy a warm and safe Christmas with your families and friends. Don’t worry too much — I will return. Stay healthy and welcome an exciting 2025.”
Seo Taiji, born in 1979, debuted in 1992 as part of the trio Seo Taiji and Boys. Known for challenging the unreasonable practices of the Korean music industry and incorporating powerful social messages in their songs, the group revolutionized the music scene. After abruptly retiring in 1996, Seo Taiji returned as a solo artist in 1998 and continued releasing albums until 2014, maintaining a strong fanbase. He is married to actress Lee Eun-sung, and the couple has a daughter.
