NewJeans’ Hanni Reassures Fans After Seen Crying At Airport Chaos

On December 28, NewJeans arrived at Incheon International Airport following their trip to Bangkok, Thailand, where they attended the 2024 Asia Artist Awards. A large crowd of fans and reporters gathered to welcome them, but the chaotic environment seemed overwhelming for the young idol.

Fans rushed towards the members, surrounding them. The airport was filled with shouting and screaming as security guards frantically tried to shield the members from the crowd. However, the small number of guards was insufficient to hold back the fans.

One male fan broke through the security line and attempted physical contact with member Hyein. Fans also aggressively took close-up photos of the members using flash photography. The situation left member Hanni visibly shaken, and she was seen in tears. Fellow member Minji and a staff member were seen comforting her as she paused for several minutes before continuing.

Videos of the incident quickly circulated online, leaving fans worried and speculating about the cause of her reaction.

Comments from fans shared their frustration over the lack of boundaries, “The reason Hanni was upset was because of people touching her when handing letters, here the video shows when she became distressed because of their being no boundaries,” and “A man broke through the bodyguards and pushed Hyein to give a letter, and Hanni was startled. What a freak.“

Later, Hanni reassured fans through an unofficial account, saying:
“I’m okay now! I’m so sorry for making you worry! I truly cherish every opportunity to meet Bunnies, but I hope we can interact in a way that doesn’t make anyone feel uncomfortable or unsafe. There’s no need to rush; we can always talk calmly and kindly.”

Meanwhile, NewJeans took home three awards at the ceremony, including one of the grand prizes, Singer of the Year, as well as Best Performance and Best Artist.
