NewJeans Resumes Schedule Amid Jeju Plane Crash Mourning, ADOR Criticized

On December 30, ADOR published an official statement on the SNS platform X regarding the status of NewJeans’ schedule.

The full statement is as below:

“Hello.

It’s ADOR.

We extend our deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in the recent plane crash and offer our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families in this time of profound sorrow.

NewJeans will be attending the TBS’ “The 66th Shining! Japan Record Awards and “COUNTDOWN JAPAN 24/25” stages as scheduled.

This decision was made after careful consideration of the impact on the event organizers and other factors. However, we carry a heavy heart as we continue with these activities under the current circumstances.

We kindly ask for your understanding.

Thank you.”

This means that despite the whole entertainment industry being put to a halt with program cancellation and delays of content publishing, NewJeans will be carrying out their schedules in Japan as usual, prompting mixed responses.

However, most netizens seem to take issue with ADOR more than NewJeans, even speculating that ADOR is intentionally publishing such a statement to draw criticisms towards the girl group, especially as ADOR and NewJeans are still embroiled in conflict.

It was pointed out that NewJeans members have shared updates and expressed their condolences regarding the recent situation, while ADOR issued a statement about activity continuation despite it not being necessary.

“Attempting to use a major national disaster to manipulate public opinion for attacks is the most inhumane act. Does the person who wrote this statement truly feel any sorrow for the victims? All I see is exploitation. Whoever wrote this announcement has an obligation to apologize”, a netizen wrote.

They just want the girls to go through another hate train by their made-up mediaplay. No doubt there will be articles about it soon although few other artists are also performing”, another lamented.

Meanwhile, on the morning of December 29, a plane carrying 181 passengers crashed while attempting an emergency belly landing due to landing gear failure. The flight, Jeju Air 2216 from Bangkok, veered off the runway and collided with a wall.

Only 2 people on the plane were rescued, while the rest were presumed dead, most of whom are families and children who were returning to Korea after a Christmas trip in Bangkok, Thailand.
