“Squid Game” continued to create a sensation after its recent release on December 26th by ranking No.1 in 92 countries. Aside from the appearance of new characters, such as Ki-hoon’s neighborhood friend Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan), Dae-ho (Kang Ha-neul), transgender Hyun-joo (Park Sung-hoon), YouTuber Myung-ki (Im Si-wan), etc., the shocking development of Season 2 content, which continued Season 1 story, with new rules also captivated viewers. Season 2 ends with the ongoing conflict between the participants when choosing O or X. Many are curious about the ending of Ki-hoon’s efforts to stop the game.

Season 1 of “Squid Game” has 9 episodes, while Season 2 ends with only 7 episodes. Although the development of the new season received criticism for being rather slow, expectations for Season 3 are rising.

Amid anticipation for the next season, the after-credit scene of Season 2, which many viewers might have not seen if they skipped the ending credit, is raising fans’ curiosity with the appearance of Younghee and her boyfriend Cheolsoo in just three seconds.

In the video, Younghee and Cheolsoo are facing each other when the participants appear. It is considered a decisive scene hinting that another game will begin despite Ki-hoon’s attempt to stop it. According to rumors, the game in this scene will be “group rope jumping”. If Season 1 has tug-of-war, Season 2 will have group rope jumping, another unique Korean traditional game. Expectations are high for the tension that the group rope jumping scenes will bring.

In addition, Younghee and Cheolsoo are the two characters that appear in Korean language books. Normally, these characters bring nostalgic feelings to adults and remind them of their childhood memories. However, just as the way Younghee destroyed Korean people’s childhood with her “green light, red light” shout in Season 1, Chul-soo is also expected to do the same in the next season. Before Season 2’s release, director Hwang Dong-hyuk already confirmed, “Younghee’s boyfriend Cheolsoo will appear”.

In response, netizens commented, “It’s so interesting seeing Cheolsoo’s appearance, but he’s a little scary”, “Isn’t the group rope jumping game too hard?”, “I can’t believe there will be group rope jumping with Younghee and Cheol-soo’s spinning the rope”, “Playing this game alone is already scary”, etc.

Meanwhile, director Hwang also revealed that Season 3 will premiere in summer or autumn next year.
