On Dec 29th, Ha Yeon-soo posted several photos on her personal account, accompanied by the caption, “It’s been two months, but my friend still celebrates my birthday.”
The photos show Ha Yeon-soo spending time with her male friend at a café. The flower gift she is holding and her friend’s striking appearance drew attention. Although she didn’t provide further comments, the male friend is reportedly an actor active in Japan, whom Ha Yeon-soo appears to have grown close to during her activities in the country.
Meanwhile, on Dec 11th, Ha Yeon-soo made her first Korean variety show appearance in three years on MBC’s “Radio Star”. She explained the reason behind her activities in Japan, “At first, I went to Japan intending to study art, but I found out that tuition fees were over 150 million won. So, I hurriedly started looking for agencies instead.”
Addressing “gravure debut” rumors, she clarified, “At the beginning of my career in Japan, I did a photoshoot for a manga magazine. In Japan, all types of magazines are collectively referred to as ‘gravure’, but in Korea, ‘gravure’ seems to be misunderstood as a term for ‘revealing photo collections’.” She added, “I wore regular clothes for the shoot, but about 50 articles were published in Korea with provocative titles. At first, I was upset and felt it was unfair. I want to take this opportunity to say that it’s not true.”
Ha Yeon-soo first rose to fame in 2012 as a model for a cosmetics ad and debuted as an actress in 2013 with the movie “Very Ordinary Couple”. After that, she appeared in dramas such as “Monstar”, “Potato Star 2013QR3” and “Rich Man”. This year, she also appeared in NHK’s drama “The Tiger and Her Wings”.
