On Jan 9th, Professor Seo reminisced about his long-standing relationship with Song Hye-kyo, saying, “Many of our followers sent me messages last night saying that a photo of Hye-kyo and me appeared on ‘You Quiz’.“
He shared, “Over the past 14 years, I’ve been so happy to carry out meaningful projects together with Hye-kyo. We have donated Korean-language guidebooks to world-renowned museums and art galleries such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Toronto. In addition, we have contributed Korean-language guidebooks, Korean-language signs and relief sculptures of independence activists to 37 sites related to Korea’s independence movement across the globe.”
He then praised Song Hye-kyo’s character, “I think Hye-kyo’s greatest strengths are her ‘sincerity’ and ‘consistency’.” Seo recalled, “A well-known anecdote is when she turned down a commercial modeling offer from Japan’s Mitsubishi Motors long ago because it is a war crime company. At the time, she told me, ‘Professor, since I’m working on meaningful projects related to Korea’s independence movement with you, it’s only natural that I would refuse.’ That statement still vividly lingers in my memory. Her sincerity seems to have been the greatest driving force behind our 14 years of collaboration.”
Finally, Professor Seo hinted at their future plans “This year marks the 80th anniversary of Korea’s liberation. We are preparing more meaningful projects together“, raising anticipation.
Meanwhile, over the past 14 years, Seo Kyung-duk and Song Hye-kyo have donated Korean-language guidebooks, Korean-language signs and relief sculptures of independence activists to 37 sites associated with Korea’s independence movement abroad.
