On January 7, aespa’s Winter appeared on Weverse to host a “menpa” – where she director responded to comments and posts on the fan interaction platform Weverse.
However, during this session, Winter was bombarded by various hate comments, which she snapped back at.
In particular, to a comment asking, “Why aren’t you dead yet?”, coupled with cigarette emojis, the female idol simply said, “Smoking is very bad for health”.
Regarding another comment saying, “You look like a b*tch”, Winter mockingly replied, “Oh, I am known to have a puppy face”.
Finally, in response to a comment telling her to “Turn off your data and sleep forever”, Winter answered, “Eat this”, before adding an ice cream cone emoji and saying, “Your mood will be significantly improved”.
Following Winter’s actions, many fans of the female idols were furious at Weverse for not filtering such hateful comments on the app. They also asked for SM Entertainment to take real actions to protect winter, tagging both SM and Weverse and trending the issue on SNS platforms such as X (formerly Twitter).
