At the press conference on August 27th, concerns were raised. The exposure scenes became a hot topic, and the actress responded, “It was for the impact of the character.

Noise can be marketing. If they wanted an impact, they succeeded. But noise is ultimately just noise. In the end, viewers only remember the nudity.

TVING’s drama “Queen Woo” (written by Lee Byung-hak, directed by Jung Se-kyo) was promoted by director Jung Se-kyo, who emphasized, “It will feature the most shocking characters ever.” However, the shock seemed to be nothing more than a means to justify undressing.

The show is filled with excessive skin exposure, to the point where it becomes uncomfortable to watch. The biggest “victim” is Jeong Yu-mi, who plays Woo Sun, the older sister of Queen Woo. Woo Sun is a character who has always desired to become the queen.

Woo Sun grew up dreaming of becoming a queen, but her younger sister Woo Hee (played by Jeon Jong-seo) married King Go Nam-mu (played by Ji Chang-wook) instead, leaving Woo Sun feeling inferior.

However, Woo Sun sees an opportunity—since there are no children yet to inherit the throne. She believes that if she has a child with the king, she could reverse the situation and become queen herself.

Woo Sun, under the influence of a potion, mistakenly believes she has fallen in love with Go Nam-mu and ends up having a sexual encounter with the shaman Sa Bi (played by Oh Ha-nee).

Nudity is also featured in a scene where King Go Nam-mu returns from war and is treated for his wounds. Three maidservants, scantily clad, wipe his body with ice in their mouths, and the camera focuses closely on the maids’ buttocks.

The drama also includes violent sex scenes. After King Go Nam-mu dies, Woo Hee chooses to marry his brother to become queen once again, in a practice known as levirate marriage.

Third prince Go Bal-gi (played by Lee Soo-hyuk) reveals his long-suppressed ambition. When told that he cannot take the queen while he has a wife, he has sexual relations with his wife then kills her with a knife.

The sex scenes serve to amplify his desires. This is a common theme between Go Bal-gi and Woo Sun. The problem is that such scenes appear far too often, disrupting the flow and breaking viewers’ concentration.
