BLACKPINK Jennie Addresses Rumor About Father’s Real Identity: ‘We Want to Clarify…’

Following claims that her biological father published a long-form novel about BLACKPINK, Jennie personally addressed rumors circulating about her family.

Recently, the news that PD Kim Hyung Jin, publisher of a work of fiction titled “World Informant,” is BLACKPINK Jennie’s father, spread on various social media platforms. The novel drew attention as it contains information about Jennie’s life as well as her journey with her group.

On September 6, the global idol personally responded to this rumor through her one-man agency, ODD ATELIER (OA). In an official statement released by the label, she refuted all claims, saying:

“Hello, this is OA Entertainment. We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all fans who love and care for our artist, Jennie.

Recently, illegally produced publications and fake news containing false information impersonating the artist’s father have been continuously circulating. We want to clarify that these are clearly false facts and have nothing to do with the artist.”

Jennie also warned that she will take legal action against malicious commenters and fake news.

“Please be careful about purchasing illegally produced publications and take special care not to suffer damages related to this.

We are taking legal action, such as filing a criminal complaint against distributors of these materials through our legal representative, on grounds of defamation by dissemination of false information, obstruction of business, etc.”

Lastly, the company also addressed related issues of fake news and sexual harassment to Jennie and stated:

“Our company is also taking legal action against the author of malicious posts such as defamation, sexual harassment, and malicious slander about our artist. Such acts are crimes, so we will continue to take strong legal action without leniency based on the collected evidence. We will continue to do our best to protect our artists. Thank you.”

After leaving YG Entertainment last year, Jennie established OA in December and focused on her solo career. On Sept. 27th, she will also be active in the entertainment scene with her appearance in JTBC’s “My Name Is Gabriel.”
