Recently, a topic titled “Malicious articles about Jennie were all written by one person” was published on the Korean forum theqoo, drawing significant attention with almost 100,000 views and 500 comments.
In this topic, the author compiled various malicious news articles about BLACKPINK’s Jennie, which was published in various period of times and targeting different events, all of which with with scathing titles as follows:
- Smoking, power trip, and adult controversies… Jennie, even ‘bad influence’ has its limits
- Even Jennie’s school uniform’ created no buzz… ‘Apartment 404”s viewership dies down
- Even Jennie can’t stop time… the inside stories of girl groups ‘worrying about their age’
- Even Karina apologized, yet Jennie stays silent and refuses responsibility over her relationship
- Jennie gained weight? Heated discussion about provocative skin exposure
As it turns out, all of these articles originate from the same reporter called Kim Ye-na, who also wrote harsh articles about other artists, such as NewJeans, BLACKPINK’s Rosé, and aespa’s Karina, alongside Min Hee-jin, who is currently in conflict with HYBE. However, Kim Ye-na never failed to praise BTS, to the point netizens couldn’t help but notice the obvious’ favoritism.
Additionally, this same reporter only follows news channels and BTS accounts on their SNS, leading to suspicions that they were targeting Jennie on purpose while praising BTS. Some netizens even went as far as to accuse HYBE of paying the reporter to target Jennie.
