BTS *truly* paved the way!
Among many global artists, the K-pop icon proved their position after being named one of the 21st century’s greatest pop stars by Billboard.
On Sept. 10th (local time), the US Billboard updated its “Greatest Pop Star of 21st Century” rankings, placing BTS in 19th place.
In particular, the music industry’s standard record chart initially unveiled its Honorable Mentions and will reveal the Top 25 staff picks in the next few months before the year ends.
In the article uploaded on its website, the global music chart lauded the septet’s huge contribution to the K-pop scene, which eventually extended into the pop music industry, thanks to their hits and fandom.
The K-pop boy group broke the wall and became the definition of “pop stars” by not only being a group with seven all-rounders but by establishing a fandom called ARMY, that embodies BTS’s love, connection and positive message.
Billboard also emphasized the septet as the “new blueprint for everything pop,” lauding its massive fan community and long list of hits. In fact, in the history of US Billboard, BTS has recorded six Hot 100 No. 1 hits and six 200 No. 1 albums.
As the magazine delved deeper into why BTS was selected to join the “Greatest Pop Stars” list, Billboard added the group’s top-tier vocals, visuals, dance abilities, and performances as more reasons they deserve their spot.
“Everything BTS is produced to the highest quality,” highlighted Billboard.
Lastly, the article cited the seven-member team’s contribution in paving the way in the global market, especially in the U.S. with their group hits such as “Dynamite” and “Butter,” not to mention the seven members’ solo careers that helped them expand their name as BTS, credited to their respective accolades.
In the end, Billboard claimed:
“No K-pop group — or group in general — has accomplished what Bangtan (BTS) has this century… BTS truly paved the way.”
