BTS’ label BigHit Music has postponed the release of member V’s birthday-related content out of deference for the victims of the Jeju Air Crash.
The label had made preparations for fans to celebrate the member’s birthday, which falls on December 30.
“We extend our deepest condolences to those who lost their lives in the aviation accident and offer our heartfelt sympathies to their bereaved families,” said the company in a statement.
“We kindly ask for fans’ understanding regarding our decision not to post V’s birthday-related content today.”

The decision follows the tragic crash of Jeju Air flight 7C2216, which occurred at 9:07 AM on December 29. The Boeing 737-800, which had been carrying 181 passengers from Bangkok to Muan International Airport, attempted to land but crashed against a concrete fence, resulting in the deaths of 179 individuals.
South Korea has declared a national mourning period until January 4. Memorial altars have been set up at Muan Airport in 17 cities and provinces nationwide, with flags raised at half-mast across all government departments and public institutions.
Authorities have secured part of the plane’s internal cameras to investigate the cause of the accident.
V, a member of supergroup BTS, enlisted as an active-duty soldier on December 11, 2023, and is currently fulfilling his compulsory military service in the South Korean Army’s 2nd Corps Command Military Police Special Unit in Gangwon Province.
His expected discharge date is June 10, 2025.
