BTS Suga has submitted to police questioning 17 days after being caught drunk driving.

On the 23rd, Suga arrived at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul at around 7:47pm wearing a black suit and a white t-shirt. He bowed in front of the press and stated, “I’m sorry. I sincerely regret disappointing many people. I will sincerely participate in the investigation. I apologize once again.”

After finishing his prepared remarks, he remained silent when asked by reporters “why he didn’t submit to questioning right away after being caught drunk for driving” and entered the police station.

Suga was booked on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) on an electric scooter on streets of Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul at 11:15 p.m. on the 6th. At the time of discovery, his blood alcohol level was 0.227%, exceeding the license revocation standard of 0.08%, making him extremely intoxicated.

When news of his drunk driving arrest spread, Suga and his agency HYBE (Big Hit) posted an apology. However, most of it turned out to be false, which fueled the controversy. â–² Suga claimed his means of transportation was a “kickboard” not a “scooter” â–² He told police he wasn’t “intoxicated” and just “drank one glass of beer” â–² He said he fell alone while “parking in front of the house” and not on the sidewalk â–² He said that he “had his license revoked and a fine imposed”, but the case has not been concluded and no follow-up measures had been taken yet.

In response, HYBE released a 2nd statement, denying suspicions of minimizing the crime and admitting that the facts had not been properly confirmed. Later, CCTV of Suga drunk driving on the streets at the time was leaked to media, and his ‘fake apology’ was brought to light again, causing embarrassment.

On the 23rd, Yonhap also released newly obtained CCTV footage of his drunk driving.

On the 22nd, there was an incident where numerous reporters gathered from dawn when it was announced that Suga would appear at the police station privately, but it turned out to be a ‘false report’.

With BTS’ fandom divided over ‘Suga’s withdrawal’, attention is being paid to what attitude Suga will take during his first police investigation.

Suga’s discharge date is June next year.

  1. [+265, -42] I wonder how long his #1 record will last, it’s seriously unrivaled
  2. [+265, -185] Even found the time to visit a beauty salon first.. daebak
  3. [+234,, -83] He ignored all reporter questionsㅋㅋㅋ .. he didn’t answer a single one and just went in..
    1. “Your blood alcohol was at intoxication level. Is it true that you only drank one beer that time?”
    2. “Do you still maintain the position that you didn’t know you can’t drink and drive?”
    3. “Why didn’t you go to police immediately when you were caught drunk driving?”
  4. [+212, -186] He ignored all the reporters questions and just spouted all the words he had memorized and rushed inside under a minute. Some of the reporters have been waiting there for almost two weeks now.. I can imagine how frustrated they are. No matter what, he didn’t even have the basic of manners.
  5. [+203, -18] Why did you drive drunk like that?? tsk tsk
  6. [+130, -56] He was sorry to fans but didn’t apologize at all to members who he was in a group with for over 10 years. This is why I don’t understand fans who like him and say things like ‘they feel sorry for him’;; After the article came out about him, all the members who used to update him almost everyday through Insta or Weverse stopped following him. I’m honestly envious seeing chodings who still support himã…‹ã…‹ã…‹. I just don’t understand kids that are embracing him, reporting accounts of broadcasting stations that are airing his live appearances and reporting fan accounts telling him to leave the group. They keep yapping that ‘there can only be 7’ when they wouldn’t even think of embracing a drunk driver themselves.
  7. [+110, -177] It’s a bit weird.. it seems like we’re the only country that crucifies people just for falling over drunk alone.
  8. [+104, -11] Whether it was a kickboard and not a scooter.. you can’t shield this!!
  9. [+94, -98] I know he did something wrong but this seems a bit harsh..?
  10. [+92, -30] Wow.. it’s quite disgusting to see that ARMY are starting to manipulate public opinion..
  11. [+74, -6] Daebak.. I never thought there’d come a day when BTS would stand in a police photo line
  12. [+66, -9] It’s so comical that this is a face of a celebrity idolㅋㅋ
