On August 31st (KST), BTS’s Jin appeared on Japan’s famous large-scale charity program “24-Hour TV,” which airs every summer on Nihon TV (NTV).
In the “I Love Everyone’s Zoo” segment, where NTV’s popular programs participate, the “visual king” Jin, along with Japan’s top idol and national idol Arashi’s Aiba, volunteered to bathe and groom rescued dogs. On September 7th, a full version of the “I Love Everyone’s Zoo” episode featuring Jin was aired.
The filming took place when the “I Love Everyone’s Zoo” team visited Korea. Throughout the broadcast, Jin, with his characteristic bright and cheerful demeanor, warmly volunteered to bathe and groom the rescued dogs. His chemistry with Aiba and the dogs garnered an explosive global response.
When asked about his motivation for participating, Jin said, “I chose to do this for the same reason. If I show this side of myself, even those who may not have had much interest might think, ‘Maybe I should try volunteering for rescued dogs too.‘” His warm-heartedness was evident in his words.
He also expressed humility by saying, “I’m a very successful idol. I believe it is because of the fans’ love that I’m able to be in this position and participate in programs like this.“
As soon as Jin’s appearance was previewed on August 17th, “I Love Everyone’s Zoo” reached the top of the search rankings on Yahoo Japan, Japan’s largest portal site, while “Jin-kun” dominated both Japan and global rankings on X (formerly Twitter) and Tsuiran Japan. This year’s broadcast of the famous annual charity program “24-Hour TV” recorded a viewership rating of 12.5%, an increase of 1.2% from the previous year.
Jin has been personally raising rescued dogs for 12 years since his childhood. He once moved listeners by releasing his self-composed song “This Night,” which expressed his longing for his late pet. He has also shown his love for animals by purchasing and donating supplies to shelters for rescued dogs. As a result, donations and volunteer efforts for rescued dogs and other animals by fans have continued.
Meanwhile, Rainbow Shelter, a shelter for rescued dogs, recently shared through Instagram that Jin and Aiba had visited to volunteer. They revealed that despite having allergies, Jin had taken allergy medicine in advance to participate in the volunteer work.
Rainbow Shelter expressed their gratitude, saying Jin’s sincerity was felt throughout the day, as he tirelessly volunteered to care for the rescued dogs and clean the shelter without showing any signs of struggle despite the hot weather. They also mentioned that Jin and Aiba kept asking about the stories of the rescued dogs during their time there, showing deep interest.
Recently, it was also revealed through the Instagram account of the production company Studio Modak that during the final filming day on Ulleungdo for the Netflix variety show “Kian’s Bizzare B&B”, Jin surprised the entire staff of 110 people by gifting them high-quality squid sets at his own expense. One staff member shared a photo, writing, “This is the first time I have received a gift from a cast member during filming, and the fact that it came from the superstar ‘Jin’ is amazing!“
Additionally, after filming for the MBC variety show “It’s a relief if you rest well”, Jin secretly paid for a gathering’s meal despite his busy schedule, a kind act revealed by the show’s producer, Kim Myung-jin.
