According to the police, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station referred Suga to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office at around 2 PM on August 30th without detention, under suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act for drunk driving.
Suga is accused of drunk driving an electric scooter on the streets of Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu at around 11:15 PM on August 6th. Under the Road Traffic Act, electric scooters are classified as “vehicles”.
At the time, Suga told the police that he had “only one beer”, but his blood alcohol concentration was found to be 0.227%, significantly exceeding the license revocation threshold of 0.08%.
Suga appeared at the police station on August 23rd, 17 days after the incident, where he underwent a three-hour investigation and admitted to the charges.
Suga, who enlisted in March for basic military training at the Nonsan Training Center in Chungcheongnam-do, is currently serving as a public service worker. His scheduled discharge date is in June 2025.
