Recent internal documents circulating online suggest that HYBE has been closely monitoring various situations involving its idols, including SEVENTEEN. Among the primary topics of discussion were dating rumors, particularly in light of Joshua’s recent scandal.
According to the documents, HYBE planned to use Seungkwan to reassure fans amid the controversies. Additionally, Mingyu’s recent Weverse live stream played a crucial role in managing fan reactions. During the livestream, Mingyu mentioned that fellow member Wonwoo was with him, which helped dispel rumors about Joshua allegedly living with his girlfriend, as it reassured fans that SEVENTEEN members were still residing together.
Interestingly, this mention of Wonwoo also overshadowed the growing speculation about Mingyu and Jeon Somi’s relationship, which had surfaced on online communities. The document states:
“When online communities turned against SEVENTEEN due to the Joshua incident, it was Mingyu’s Weverse live that reignited fan discussions. While it’s unclear if he intentionally addressed the situation, his mention of Wonwoo living with him reassured fans who had been upset by rumors of Joshua moving out to live with a girlfriend. The focus on Mingyu and Wonwoo’s living arrangements also helped shift attention away from the dating rumors involving Mingyu and Jeon Somi, which had recently gained traction on platforms like DC Inside.”
It’s known that Mingyu and Somi are friends, as evidenced by Mingyu’s attendance at her album release party. However, this has only fueled further speculation about their relationship.
