Disney+ Brings “Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born” to Global Audience

Kim Tae Ri-led Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born has been confirmed to be released on Disney+ worldwide.

Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born tells the story of Yoon Jeong Nyeon, a girl with a talent for singing who strives to become the best Gukgeuk (national theatre) actress. The K-drama is set against the backdrop of the immediate aftermath of the Korean War in the 1950s, an era characterise by poverty. 

On September 10, numerous Korean media outlets brought the news that the K-drama will be premiering globally on Disney+. New character stills featuring actress Kim Yoon Hye as Seo Hye Rang were also released. 

Seo Hye Rang is the leading heroine of the Maeran Theater Company, who usually plays the female lead in the plays of Maeran Theater Company.

She is a character with unrivaled talent in dance and an elegant and graceful demeanor. However, she is also cunning enough to be on guard and sabotage anyone who appears to threaten her or Moon Ok Gyeong (Jung Eun Chae). 

The production team shared, “Kim Yoon Hye put in tremendous effort to learn both singing and dancing in order to fully embody the character of Seo Hye Rang, who exudes the aura of the top Gukgeuk actress. Her hard work will shine through in the play within the drama. Additionally, Hye Rang’s presence will bring a significant turning point in Jeong Nyeon’s growth journey.”

Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born is scheduled to premiere on October 12. The K-drama will be available to stream on Disney+.
