Lee Jun Hyuk is reprising his popular role as Seo Dong-jae in the new TVING original series.
On October 12, TVING unveiled the main poster for its upcoming original series Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard (WT), marking the highly anticipated return of Lee Joon-hyuk in the role of Seo Dong-jae.
A spin-off from the acclaimed series Stranger, the series follows the intense journey of prosecutor Seo Dong-jae, played by Lee Jun Hyuk, as he seeks to escape his troubled past as a sponsored prosecutor and earn recognition in the present. The series promises a gripping narrative as Seo Dong-jae, who recently returned from a challenging period, faces off against Park Sung-woong’s character, Nam Wan-seong, the CEO of Lee Hong Construction, who resurrects painful memories.
The announcement of a spin-off featuring the complex yet endearing character Seo Dong-jae has generated significant buzz. Writer Lee Soo-yeon, known for Stranger seasons 1 and 2, is back as a creator, joined by fellow writers Hwang Ha-jeong and Kim Sang-won from the original series. Director Park Geon-ho will oversee the production, ensuring a seamless continuation of the beloved series.
The teaser video previously released has piqued interest by suggesting a continuation of Seo Dong-jae’s tumultuous journey. The newly revealed main character poster further adds to the intrigue, showcasing Seo Dong-jae’s dual nature. The poster captures his intense demeanor with sharp eyes that convey the seriousness of a veteran prosecutor, contrasted with a shadowy, distorted half that hints at the character’s internal conflict, embodying the “good or bad” theme of the series.
The production team shared, “We aimed to create a TVING original spin-off that explores a new dimension of Seo Dong-jae, a character who combines cunning with a deep human side. True to its title, Good or Bad Dong-jae will offer a fresh and unique perspective, different from Secret Forest, while maintaining the complex charm of Seo Dong-jae.”
Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard is set to premiere on October 10.
