“Every Comment Breaks Me Down”, Rosé Opens Up Amidst the Success of “APT.”

In an interview with the American fashion magazine Paper on the 4th (local time), Rosé shared her thoughts on the popularity of “APT.,” saying, “I feel that people are starting to learn more about Korean culture. I can now fully enjoy the fans’ reactions to the song.”

“APT.,” a duet with pop star Bruno Mars, was released on the 18th of last month. The song’s catchy chorus was inspired by a popular Korean drinking game known as the “Apartment Game.” However, Rosé hinted that her upcoming full album, rosie, where “APT.” will also be featured, will have a different vibe.

Rosé described rosie, set to release next month, as an album about the vulnerabilities and confusion typical of one’s twenties, saying, “I wanted to sing about the challenging times we face in our twenties. I hope people come to understand that I’m not much different from an ordinary girlfriend or a 23-year-old girl.”

The album also includes tracks that reflect Rosé’s own feelings about the hate comments and rumors she has endured. She confessed, “I have a bad habit of staying up late reading negative posts about me. I’ve realized how vulnerable and addicted I am to the online world, and how much I crave love and understanding.”

She added, “Even when I act unfazed in interviews, every word and every comment tears me down. I don’t want people to misunderstand me. I’m ready to show a more honest and open side of myself so that listeners can accept me as I am.”

Back in 2021, Rosé admitted that she felt tired and depressed when scrolling through Instagram. More specifically, she experienced stress and anxiety while reading the comments left by netizens on her Instagram. Because of this, Rosé planned to spend her free time watching movies on Netflix and reduce her Instagram usage compared to before.

At that time, this revelation from Rosé received mixed reactions. Many people supported her decision to spend less time on Instagram and avoid reading negative comments to prevent hurt and sadness. Anti-fans are often quick to post malicious remarks that bring Rosé down, so she should focus on finding things that make her happy.
