On September 8, the Global ARMY Alliance, which consists of 127 organizations from 58 countries and is a representative for fans of BTS, issued a statement regarding BTS’s Suga.
In particular, they stated, “We clearly express that the anti-fans hiding behind anonymity to ostracize a member do not represent ARMY,” and added, “The Global ARMY Alliance supports BTS as seven members.”
Regarding Suga, who has been booked on charges of drunk driving, they stated, “We do not demand more responsibility than what will result from due legal process,” and “We strongly urge the media to stop further spreading claims from unverified sources.”
After Suga was caught for drunk driving, some fans began calling for his departure. This sentiment grew due to concerns that Suga could become an obstacle to BTS’s return, which is expected after their military service ends in June next year. However, on September 8th, the fan alliance expressed concerns that such opinions could instead cause a rift between BTS and their fanbase.
