FIFTY FIFTY, including original members Keena, Aran, Sio, and Saena, first gained popularity with their hit song “Cupid,” which first gained traction overseas before catching on in Korea. However, the group’s success was short-lived due to an abrupt hiatus and legal troubles.
With Keena’s return to the agency, CEO Jeon Hong-jun restructured FIFTY FIFTY, carefully selecting new songs and members after auditioning numerous trainees. This re-debut in September has been well-received, with fans and critics alike praising the group’s harmony and talent.
The current lineup stands out: main vocalists Chanelle Moon and Hana, Athena’s unique tone, Yewon’s fresh visuals, and Keena’s captivating vocal charm have led fans to ask, “How did they bring this team together?”
CEO Jeon explained that the selection process was thorough. Chanelle Moon and Yewon had trained under Belift Lab and even appeared on a survival show. Hana impressed the agency with her clear voice and instrumental skills. Athena, the maknae, was discovered through a video sent from Sweden and quickly adapted to K-pop training despite cultural differences.
Since the September comeback, FIFTY FIFTY has gained traction with K-pop fans, with their new song quickly trending on YouTube and additional music show appearances. “I believe it’s a miracle,” Jeon said. “Selecting members and debuting in just 4 months—it seems almost impossible.“
