‘For Asia, Man, We Paved the Way’: BTS RM Has Fans Calling Him the ‘Father of K-pop’ After Sizzling Collab With Megan Thee Stallion

It’s no secret among the K-pop community that RM is a lyrical genius. And once again, the BTS leader showcased his prowess and charisma after featuring in American singer-songwriter Megan Thee Stallion’s “Neva Play.”

Quickly after its release on September 6, the highly-anticipated music video spread like wildfire on the web, with both the artists’ fans from all over the world flooding different social platforms—from X to TikTok to Facebook, you name it!—with praises for the collaboration track.

RM’s rich and deep voice perfectly matched Megan’s sultry image, and together, their rap parts were a perfect blend of fiery confidence and lyricism. Fans also raved about “Neva Play’s” futuristic and anime-like visual aesthetic.

And undeniably, the K-pop star was killin’ folks with a line after his wordplay: “For Asia, man, we paved the way,” which could be an allusion to his group’s journey to global fame.

On X, ARMYs were frenzied and expressed their awe for the BTS frontman dubbing him the “Father of K-pop,” and “Neva Play” as the “Collab of the Year.”

Meanwhile, it wasn’t just the fans who had nothing but good things to say about RM, but even Megan herself!

On September 2, prior to the “Neva Play’s” release, Megan teased fans about the new collab with the caption, “This is one of my favorite RM verses I’ve heard! I’ve never heard him rap in this style before.”

BTS RM is currently serving in the military. He is scheduled to be discharged in June 2025.
