The fan had sent the message, “That’s not something idols should wear,” to Yves.

In response, the idol stated, “Not an outfit idols should wear? What is an outfit that is supposed to be worn by idols?” She added, “I am an idol… So whatever outfit I wear becomes an idol’s outfit, right? Am I hurting someone?”

She then stated that she was not offended by the message, but added that if they were to argue with her, they would get blocked.

The chat between Yves and the fan was from February but is just now receiving attention from Korean netizens. It was discovered that the outfit the fan did not like was a shark hoodie from BAPE, which retails for $500. It is extremely popular in streetwear and hype beast culture and was worn by the likes of Ariana Grande, Drake, and more.

Korean netizens were split on the situation. Some believed that the fan was the one who was rude, stating that they had no reason to meddle with what Yves was wearing. They wondered why they had an issue with what Yves wore, seeing as she wore something that covered her up.

Many had expected Yves to have worn something controversial. However, after finding out it was a hoodie, people believe the fan made a big deal out of nothing.

Some, however, believe Yves exaggerated the situation and should not have entertained the fan. They claimed she took it too far, and should have let it slide.
