From 0% Ratings to Rising Success: Korean Drama “Marry YOU” Hits Its Stride in Just 4 Episodes

The drama in question is Channel A’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Marry YOU”. Co-produced by Chorokbaem Media and One Entertainment, the show began with modest ratings but steadily gained viewers, reaching a peak of 1.035% in its fourth episode.

According to Nielsen Korea, “Marry YOU” premiered on November 16 with a rating of 0.763%. The second episode garnered 0.706%, followed by 0.958% in the third, and the fourth episode on November 24 surpassed the 1% milestone with 1.035%.

“Marry YOU” is a matchmaking romance story about Bong Cheol-hee (Lee Yi-kyung), an island bachelor who meets all the requirements to avoid marriage. The drama depicts the struggle that unfolds as civil servant Jung Ha-na (Jo Soo-min), who doesn’t believe in marriage, is dispatched to a “Marriage Encouragement” team that was formed to send Bong Cheol-hee off to marriage.

The drama’s popularity extends to OTT platforms as well. According to Kino Lights, an integrated OTT search platform, “Marry YOU” ranked fourth on TVING, fifth on Wavve and sixth on Netflix as of November 25. Its viewership among the 2049 (viewers aged 20~49) demographic has also significantly increased, indicating growing interest from younger viewers.
