On March 21, Sulli’s brother wrote on his Instagram account, “I have a lot to say about Mr. Kim, but I can’t say it. You’re going to fall from a high place—hold on tight.” The post quickly drew criticism, prompting Sulli’s brother to respond again on the same day:

“How are so-called fans this unhelpful? I didn’t even mention the name ‘Soo Hyun,’ yet you all rushed in. I bet you’re frustrated you can’t fact-check, right? I’ve spent years living with that same frustration, clinging to one line: ‘I guess it couldn’t be helped.’ That’s what’s helped me keep my sanity. Even if I don’t say anything, he’s going to suffer in many other places. I won’t bother talking about it—it won’t help you, and it won’t become fact. So don’t poke the bear and just move along. Also, aren’t you the ones dragging my sister’s name into this all over again? It’s extremely upsetting that her name is still being tossed around everywhere.”

On March 22, he posted once more, saying: “Is the word ‘fan’ some kind of secret royal inspector badge? Where are the fans in this situation? All I see are people tearing each other apart.”
Sulli passed away on October 14, 2019, at the age of 25. She had long suffered from malicious comments and ongoing controversy throughout her career. In July 2014, after dating rumors with Dynamic Duo’s Choiza surfaced, she took a break from entertainment activities due to the distress caused by hate comments and rumors. She officially withdrew from the girl group f(x) in 2015.

Following her passing, MBC’s documentary DocuPlex included interviews with Choiza and Sulli’s mother, who had opposed the relationship, sparking renewed controversy. The backlash led to the suspension of the program’s rewatch service.

During her lifetime, Sulli was praised for her outspokenness and advocacy through shows like Jinri Store and JTBC’s Night of Hate Comments, earning public admiration. In November of the year she passed, the Jinri Store production team donated 15,000 sanitary pads to the Gimpo Welfare Foundation in her name, continuing her legacy.

In 2017, Sulli co-starred with Kim Soo Hyun in the film Real, portraying the character Song Yoo-hwa. The film drew heavy attention at the time due to its explicit scenes, which were widely promoted as being performed without a body double.

In a recent video, Garosero Research Institute also referenced Sulli’s brother’s cryptic post, suggesting it may have been aimed at Kim Soo Hyun amid the current controversy.
Additionally, the institute raised suspicions surrounding the film Real, particularly Sulli’s nude scenes. They claimed that the pressure surrounding those explicit scenes may have contributed to the intense public scrutiny and harassment Sulli faced throughout her career.
