On August 3rd, (G)I-DLE started their third world tour 2024 (G)I-DLE WORLD TOUR [iDOL] IN SEOUL at KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
This concert is meaningful as it showcased the growth of (G)I-DLE, who made their debut in 2018 and is in the 7th year of their career. The girl group presented various performances, from their debut song “Latata”, to their hit songs “Tomboy”, “Queencard”, “Super Lady”, “Fate” and their new song “Klaxion”.
In addition to group songs, the members also prepared spectacular solo stages to showcase their individualities. Among the solo stages, Soyeon’s “Is this bad b****** number?” performance aroused keen attention. Appearing in a tight bodysuit with leopard prints to reveal her perfect body figure, the female idol was lying down facing the audience.
In the first part of the performance, Soyeon showed a dance emphasizing her sexy charm then quickly changed the beat and the atmosphere to make a transformation with a hip-hop style. While delivering a powerful rap, Soyeon spat curse words without hesitation then surprised everyone with her straightforward lyrics, such as “Contract ends in November / Who would ever stop me?”.
Regarding the content of Soyeon’s rap, an official from CUBE Entertainment explained that it was for the female idol’s stage performance, adding that the exclusive contract of (G)I-DLE members continues until next year.
However, Soyeon’s performance is receiving mixed reactions from fans and netizens. Many are worried and excited to see whether (G)I-DLE, a group in their 7th year, will renew their contract with CUBE. Some praised Soyeon’s confident and honest personality, while others criticized her for lack of consideration toward fans because the contract renewal issue is a little sensitive.
If the members don’t renew their contract, it is unclear whether they will be able to continue being a group. As (G)I-DLE is starting a new world tour to further strengthen their presence, attention is focused on their next step during the contract renewal season.
Regarding the contract issue, (G)I-DLE members have also made comments on some broadacsts. When asked how long she wants to continue being an idol on a web show, Soyeon said, “Until I can still do it”. Yuqi also cautiously said, “We still have one and a half years left on our contract”.
Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE’s 3rd world tour “iDOL” will continue with the second show in Seoul on August 4th. After that, the girl group will meet fans around the world in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Oakland, Houston, Taipei, Bangkok, Macau, Melbourne, Sydney, etc.
