Girls’ Generation Taeyeon Reveals ‘Alcohol Trash’ Nickname

On the 29th, Hyeri’s official YouTube channel released a video, titled, “Taeyon, who says she’ll take it easy but becomes a wild girl.”

This video marked the eighth episode of “Hyel’s Club,” hosted by Hyeri. In this episode, she has Taeyeon, Hyeri’s close friend, appear as a guest.

It is common knowledge among SONEs that Taeyeon is someone who cannot handle her alcohol. Throughout the show, Hyeri revealed she is similar. Because of that, Hyeri prepared a sweet cocktail called a Peach Crush for her and Taeyeon.

During the show, Hyeri tells Taeyeon, “You and I both know about ‘alcohol trash.'” She then turns to the camera, saying, “Did you guys know? Taeyeon unnie is the first one to come up with the term ‘alcohol trash.'”

The term alcohol trash refers to someone who is lightweight or cannot handle their alcohol well. During the show, it was revealed Taeyeon first introduced the word to the public during an appearance on MBC’s “Radio Star.” The phrase quickly caught on among the general public and is now used commonly among those who drink.

Taeyeon revealed how the term came to be, saying, “I drank alcohol that is only 2-3% in Japan and my face turned red. I even passed out. The Girls’ Generation members made fun of me and said I was trash at drinking alcohol.”

The idol also joked, “There are too many alcohol trash out there!”
