On November 27, Go Hyun-jung appeared on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” (episode 271), where she updated viewers on her recent activities.
During the broadcast, Go Hyun-jung revealed, “I’ve been keeping myself busy. I’ve been filming two projects back to back.” She continued, “After filming ‘Mask Girl,’ I moved straight into another project, but the broadcast got delayed. After ‘Fairy Jae-hyung,’ I became a topic on YouTube, which led me to more work. It wasn’t because of YouTube that I started doing movies, but it opened up more opportunities.” She also expressed a desire to return to variety shows, “I haven’t paid much attention to variety shows, but I come from that background.”
Go Hyun-jung, who recently started engaging with fans through her first-ever social media accounts, added with a laugh, “I thought doing YouTube and Instagram would lead to more variety show offers, but nothing came through. It didn’t work out as I thought.”
She also spoke about her personal life, “I’ve been part of big news stories, so I didn’t want to keep talking about unnecessary personal details. Everyone is busy with their own lives, and bringing up past events just reminds people of things they might rather forget. I believe it’s better to just quietly work and live. I don’t have anything to introduce because everything has already been revealed.”
Go Hyun-jung entered the entertainment industry after winning Miss Korea at the age of 19. Host Yoo Jae-suk mentioned, “At that time, Oh Hyun-kyung was the winner, and Go Hyun-jung was the runner-up, and the pageant recorded the highest-ever viewership rating of 54% in Miss Korea history.” He also shared that Marshall Beauty Salon and Seri Beauty Salon were fierce competitors at the time. Seri Beauty Salon had produced actress Kim Sung-ryung, and the following year, Marshall Beauty Salon worked to make Go Hyun-jung its next star.
Go Hyun-jung shared the reason she entered the Miss Korea pageant, “My mom was quite fashionable. She used to go to Marshall Beauty Salon with her friends. At the time, I had long hair, and when I wanted to break away from the norm, the only thing I could do was cut my hair. So, I went to Marshall Beauty Salon.”
When Go Hyun-jung met the salon’s owner, she recalled, “The owner asked, ‘Do you have any thoughts about this?’ I was offered the chance, and that’s when I decided to participate.”
Go Hyun-jung made her debut as Miss Korea in 1989. She married Shinsegae Chairman Chung Yong-jin in 1995, and the couple had a son and a daughter before divorcing in 2003.
