Gordon Ramsay May Join “Culinary Class Wars” Season 2?

On October 15th, PD Kim Hak-min and Kim Eun-ji from Studio Slam, who directed the series, along with writer Mo Eun-seol, met with reporters at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

“Culinary Class Wars” achieved great success by delivering entertainment through its overwhelming scale and thrilling missions, earning comparisons to a culinary version of “Physical: 100.” All 100 chefs who appeared in the series, together with the black and white spoon chefs who made it to the top 8, are now experiencing a happy scene where reservations are flooding their actual operating restaurants.

Paik Jong-won, the godfather of the food industry, and Ahn Sung-jae, Korea’s only Michelin 3-star chef, who participated as judges, also became the center of attention. PD Kim Hak-min, who led the series, expressed his gratitude: “While preparing for ‘Culinary Class Wars,’ I wanted to hear people asking for a second season most, and I’m grateful and happy that it has become a reality.”

Season 1 of the 12-episode variety show “Culinary Class Wars,” which aired from last month’s 17th to the 8th of this month, featured culinary battles between 20 famous chefs known as “white spoons” and 80 “black spoon” chefs who have proven themselves in the field. The fierce competition, which saw white spoon Edward Lee and black spoon Napoli Matfia advance to the finals, garnered significant attention.

Kim Hak-min added, “Although nothing specific has been decided regarding season 2 yet, it seems that Paik Jong-won and Ahn Sung-jae, who appeared as judges in season 1, are positively considering returning to their roles.” He continued, “It’s fascinating that we’ve been receiving applications from people wanting to appear in season 2 through our company email, even before the second season has been officially announced.”

Kwon Sung-jun, who made a name for himself as Napoli Matfia by winning the competition, has also expressed his eagerness, saying, “If season 2 is produced, should I consider participating as a white spoon chef?” Season 1 featured numerous renowned chefs, including Chinese cuisine master Yeo Kyung-rae, fine dining pioneer Choi Hyun-seok, Iron Chef alumnus Edward Lee, dumpling queen Jung Ji-sun, Park Jun-woo, and Oh Se-deuk, which generated significant buzz.

The production team hinted at an even more star-studded cast for season 2. Writer Mo Eun-seol revealed, “Our top recruitment priority for season 2 is Gordon Ramsay. Since he has appeared as a judge on so many TV programs, we thought it might be interesting for him to participate as a contestant this time. We’ve already reached out to Gordon Ramsay as soon as season 1 was released,” piquing curiosity.

Gordon Ramsay is a prominent British chef who gained fame as a judge on FOX channel’s Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares. As of 2017, the restaurants he operates have accumulated a total of 7 Michelin stars.
