Heavenly Ever After is already generating buzz with the unveiling of character stills featuring the captivating Han Ji Min.
Returning to the small screen as ‘Somi,’ an amnesiac whose very presence hints at secrets yet to be revealed, Han Ji Min embodies an otherworldly allure that lives up to the drama’s poetic title.
Set to premiere on the 19th, Heavenly Ever After teases an imaginative take on the afterlife, where second chances, lost memories, and timeless love take center stage.
The story begins with Lee Hae-sook (Kim Hye Ja), who arrives in heaven in her 80s and is stunned to find her husband, Go Nak-joon (Son Suk Ku), looking youthful in his 30s. As she embarks on a whole new chapter of life after death, warm humor and touching moments await viewers. Into their peaceful heaven home arrives Somi—played by Han Ji Min—a woman with no recollection of who she is but one lingering clue: the name “Ko Nak-joon.”
The more we see of Somi, the deeper the mystery grows. The released stills show Han Ji Min glowing with an almost ethereal presence—her serene smile and radiant gaze hinting at a story untold. Her sudden appearance stirs the dynamics in heaven, especially when Lee Hae-sook begins to suspect Somi may be a romantic rival.
Backed by a powerhouse creative team—director Kim Seok-yoon and writers Lee Nam-gyu and Kim Soo-jin, known for hits like The Light in Your Eyes and Awl—the drama also features a stellar ensemble including Lee Jung Eun, Chun Ho Jin, and Ryu Deok Hwan.
This marks Han Ji-min’s fourth collaboration with director Kim, and she was quick to say yes to the role. “I couldn’t put the script down,” she shared. “The idea that you can choose the age you remember most vividly in heaven really moved me. I loved that this wasn’t just about life ending—it’s about continuing the journey beyond, with the same care and intention.”
Portraying Somi, a woman caught between worlds, Han focused on expressing her character’s vulnerability and quiet strength. “I wanted the audience to feel her confusion, her desire to remember, and her need to belong,” she said.
