After initial criticism that Hwasa received for releasing “NA” and its butt dance, she turned the tables as K-Netz began showing love for her new song and choreography.
On Sept. 19th, Hwasa returned to the K-pop scene with her second solo mini-album “O” and its title track “NA.” At first, the album made music fans raise their brows as they found it similar to PSY’s “Gangnam Style.”
People claimed that she lost her individuality after transferring to P NATION and this skepticism intensified after watching her MV that showcased dance moves where she moves her bum up and down using her hands.

However, about a week since its release, the song suddenly gained traction, both at home and abroad.
After watching her M2 performance and relay dance, Koreans discussed that the “butt dance” isn’t that bad and commended how the concept actually suits Hwasa. They also pointed out that seeing the female star enjoying the performance made it better.
In particular, the title song “NA” depicts the message centering around “Me, Myself, & NA(I),” It aims to boost self-esteem and celebrate independence, a life that is not easily swayed by the eyes of others.
Korean commenters love her confidence and the song is slowly growing to them, too.
Here are some of the comments:
- “I personally don’t like it, but since it’s going viral now, I think it’s a good thing for her as a singer.”
- “I like it that she looks happy.”
- “She really has a great talent. The kind of talent that can’t be achieved with just effort. She’s a true, natural entertainer.”
- “It looks exciting and fun, right?”
- “She dances so well. She’s so charming!”
- “The clothes and choreography are so far from my taste. But the dance itself is good and it looks like she’s having fun, so it’s cute.”
Meanwhile, Hwasa is also a hot topic among international supporters for her “NA” dance.
