A topic titled “Big 3 (SM, YG, JYP) vs HYBE: Differences in how they treat artists and fans” is drawing attention on the Korean online forum “theqoo”.
The topic in question included various comments made by employees of the aforementioned companies on the verified employee platform”Blind” regarding their artists and fans.
In particular, when HYBE idols faced controversies over lack of skills, a HYBE employee wrote, ”The company’s stance aside, it’s true that the mentioned female idols need practice.“
Additionally, when BTS and NewJeans fans protested against HYBE’s treatment towards their favorite idols, a HYBE employee criticized the fans’ behavior, calling those “disheartening and disappointing” and accusing them of being mostly from high school students.
On the other hand, posts from SM, JYP, and YG’s employees mostly show support for their artists, even actively promoting albums and B-side songs.
Upon seeing such differences, netizens heavily criticize HYBE, saying that the employees there only treat idols like “products” instead of humans.
Below are some comments from netizens:
- This is the difference between treating artists like products and treating them like humans
- Wow sho they really don’t consider the idols humans…
- The employees of that company are truly disgusting…
- Damn, how is it that HYBE specifically pick out the worst ones
- HYBE is the main culprit of ruining K-pop
- How are they in the idol business with a mindset like that?
