On the December 18th episode of tvN’s variety show “You Quiz on the Block” (Episode 273), actor Hyun Bin appeared as a guest.
During the show, Hyun Bin, whose real name is Kim Tae-pyung, shared, “My father gave me this name. It uses the characters for ‘great’ (태) and ‘peaceful’ (평).” When asked how he is addressed at home, he responded, “They just call me Hyun Bin. I’ve heard that the more your name is called, the better it is, so my parents naturally call me ‘Bina.’”
Hyun Bin’s real name became widely known through his graduation photos. Jo Se-ho remarked, “Your famous graduation photos are no joke. How could we be born in the same year?” He added, “Hong Hyun-hee once said on a show that you were well-known as a very handsome student,” referring to Hyun Bin’s popularity during his school days.
It was revealed that in popularity polls conducted at nearby girls’ high schools, 4th place went to Untitle, 3rd to H.O.T., and 2nd to Kim Tae-pyung (Hyun Bin). When asked if he was indeed famous back then, Hyun Bin modestly replied, “A little.” Yoo Jae-suk commented, “At this level, there’s no way you didn’t know,” expressing admiration.
